I think it is safe to say that the majority of bloggers get started because they either feel called to blogging or they are passionate about the topics they are covering.
For me - I started blogging as a result of both of the reasons previously mentioned. Because I feel called to blogging the work is always fun in the beginning, and then as life gets busier the fun begins to decrease more and more. Eventually feelings of being overwhelmed and burned out overtake me, and my posts slow down until I eventually stop posting altogether. I would like to use my past experiences and mistakes to discuss getting back on track after you have lost your blogging way.
Use prayer and meditation to seek wisdom and direction for your blog. Meditation is quiet alone time to reflect on your thoughts and tune into the direction that God and your heart are trying to steer you into.
Usually during my meditation period, I write in my journal about ideas, issues/problems I may be struggling with, and usually whatever is in my heart. I did not realize that my journal entries during meditation and prayer are the foundations that most of my blog posts are built upon.
Choose your niche
To determine your “niche” or specific focus area and audience take time to answer the following questions:
Why are you blogging?
Who are you blogging for?
What kind of blog are you creating?
What topics do you wish to cover?
What issues do you want to help your readers solve?
Answering these questions will help you discover your true place in the “blog-iverse”. While working through these questions be as detailed as possible in your answers.
Pre-plan Your Posts
“If you fail to plan, then you plan to fail”
I was searching for the best way to keep my blog information, ideas, brainstorming sessions, etc. organized and in one place. As a result, the exclusive Couture Blog Planner was created.
This downloadable planner includes blank calendar, blog outline, post ideas, and brainstorming worksheets. Download, print, and hole punch these worksheets and then place them in a 3-ring binder.
Batch Write and Schedule Posts
Batch writing is writing multiple blog posts in one sitting- TRUST ME, this will save you so much time.
After your posts are written proofed and ready to go, schedule them to post on the desired date and time. The platform I currently use is tumblr.com but in the past I’ve used wordpress.com and wix.com; every platform I mentioned offers a scheduling feature.
Remember to take things one step at a time. You are unique and there are readers out there who need the information that you have to offer. KEEP BLOGGING!
